Coco Victoria Lloyd is a British-Australian singer, writer, actress and producer. Coco grew up in Hitchin, England. She went to the Stagecoach Theatre School where she studied music, theatre and dance. Coco began her professional career in London with acting roles in the films Footballers’ Wives and What Would Happen If? Her first major musical breakthrough came when she was selected for a project at Sony London, which then led her to a group of girls for a very popular British talent show. The band reached the top of the British charts with their cover of You Are Not Alone with a charity single. After leaving the girl band Coco returned to London and started working in her own band called Nevermind. Not to mention the fact that they gained national fame with their first few 2 Lines, which were broadcast on several BBC stations before being put on the coveted BBC Radio 1 playlist. After the collapse of Nevermind, Coco returns to study theatre in London and New York. Coco recently landed her first starring role in the feature film Hex, which was recently released in digital version by Cleopatra.
In the film, a grieving young girl reveals the secrets of her murdered mother, which are linked to the wizard’s curse. She wants to put an end to this obtrusive enchantment by going where she came from, but her journey throws her deeper into the sinister depths.
I know you live in Los Angeles now, but were you born in England?
Yeah, I have dual citizenship: English/Australian, but I grew up in Hitchin, Hertfordshire until I was 18.
Was it easier for you to find an acting job in Los Angeles?
Not much easier, but certainly a lot more possibilities! I like working in England, but I’ve certainly had many more auditions in the United States.
You’ve worked a lot for television. Is that a big difference from film?
Live television is different, and I have huge stage fright, which doesn’t help! You have this one chance to succeed, and if you don’t, millions of people will see that you screwed up, which, when I was a teenager in the beginning, was terrifying!
Where do you find the best food? Ha!
I’ve always been lucky that the restaurant business is really excellent in all the areas where I’ve worked, and I love my food! Food’s my favorite spot on the set.
Were you nervous about taking your first acting role in a movie?
I was very nervous at the audition, but there wasn’t much going on on set. I was just incredibly grateful and I wanted to enjoy every moment.
What makes your character vibrate?
Dillan faces grief and struggles with his own thoughts and desires to find out what happened to his mother. Her love for her mother overwhelms her as she relives the horrible events in the hut.
Did you refer to real or living people in your presentation?
The creative side of Dillanes was easy to draw, because I am very creative! I got the rest from my own emotional experiences from the past.
What’s the next step?
Who knows if you give 2020 haha! I hope to release some of the short films I’ve written early next year, and then hopefully record a few more roles when things calm down a bit. I only hope that the Covid vaccine will be available soon, so that this terrible time for the world will come to an end.
